  • Nearly 80 others were injured in the automobile bomb blast in Sadr City, a Shia region often targeted by insurgents. In a distinct incident, a female Sunni MP and seven of her bodyguards were kidnapped, democratic sources said. The original Iraqi regime has been battling to better protection in the capital, repeatedly strike by automobile bombs and kidnappings.

    The marketplace blast is believed to be the lowest unmarried attack in Baghdad for weeks. Reports tell the automobile bomb was detonated as a police patrol passed, causing police and civil casualties. Markets have often been targeted by insurgents. In March three marketplace blasts in Sadr City killed dozens.

    On Monday, markets in two mainly Shia towns - Baquba, north-east of Baghdad, and Hilla, south of the capital - killed much than a dozen folk. A rise of attacks across Baghdad on 17 June, which killed much than 40 folk, too included two markets among its targets. Information
