First impressions

Even the first meeting with a stranger becomes a "moment of truth" for us. We immediately determine whether that man is pleasant for us or not, disposed towards communication or not, elegant or not-that is we determine all advantages and disadvantages of our possible relationship.

Of course the first impression may be deceptive and our opinion can change after some communication. But if the first impressions are negative then there is a probability that you’ll never communicate with that person again.

Moment of truth

Being for the first time surrounded by unknown people, I always feel really shy. But following my own experience, I have two ways to cope with the situation: first – to smile broadly and socially and the second-to feel well dressed to the maximum degree. That means that the first impression is really a very important matter. And this is rather fair both regarding personal life and professional activity. Nowadays more and more women are anxious to attain success that is why it is so important for them be able to show their best side.
People will “read” about your reliability, responsibility and accuracy judging by your appearance. For the time being when the level of competition on the labor-market is extremely high it is rather normal for us to judge about a person’s clothes, thinking that a visual image of a personality also reflects the inner world and that an appearance corresponds a person’s social status.

Be self-advertising…

If you like yourself, it is always “written” on your face. We all know how easier it is to respect a man who respects him/herself. But if somebody hates looking at him/herself what can he/she demand from others? Moreover a vicious circle appears here: the lower self-appraisal is, the worse a person looks, and the worse he/she begins to look.
Depression and uncertainty- all these influence our appearance. Fortunately, this situation is remediable. A lot of women have a guilt complex because of their appearance.

In difficult moments of my life my husband has told me that it is necessary to ablate this complex from me. Now being under stress or depression, I resort to only one approved by years method – I allow to spoil myself and I am concerned only about myself. This is the best therapy. A modern science can work wonders with our body, but these ‘pleasures” are far from being cheap and sometimes they are painful. But there is an alternative. Accessible and cheap. Clothing, make-up, manicure, accessories.

They also can work wonders. Confess to you that everybody has to work at his/her own appearance: try to understand it and turn it to your own advantage. Let your exterior become a mirror of your abilities and talents. Use your appearance as the most effective way of communication, evince some cunning and don’t be afraid to advertise yourself.

From the first seconds

They say that it is possible to form your opinion about a person in three minutes. I am sure that it is not so. This is a matter of seconds. When I have to hire somebody, the first thing I pay attention to is a person’s appearance. A person who’ll be representing my firm has to look impeccably and inspire confidence, demonstrate friendliness and openness by his/her look. But at the same time be a symbol of prosperity and success. Remember: a person will always accept us as an image we offer. If we look in a very elegant way and just radiate success, why not to believe that it is true?

Business style for a business lady

One of my clients, a young qualified economist, complained to me about her fellow-employees. “Why while having a meeting, they always ask me to make coffee for them?”

I advised her to stand in front of the mirror and together we tried to discuss and then came to a conclusion that her badly fitted waistcoat and a baggy skirt don’t add elegance and strict charm to her.
