One of the questions I am asked most frequently is "How much should I sell my Dvds for"? One of the biggest misconceptions new sellers have is they are going to make $5 - $8 on each DVD they sell. Nothing can be further from the truth. Dvds are the hottest selling item on the internet, but there is a lot of competition. The DVD movie business is a volume business. It is more realistic to expect a profit of $1 - $3 per DVD. Do you think this sounds like peanuts? Well not if you are moviemarz and sell more than 20,000 Dvds a month. What I do is sell a DVD for a couple of bucks more than I paid for it. For example if I pay $7.50 for a DVD I will sale it for $8.99. I then make money off of the shipping and handling charges. My flat rate to ship one DVD is $3.99 and then I charge $2.00 for each additional DVD that is purchased and shipped. The cost to ship a DVD through the United States Post Office is around $1.29 so my profit from shipping is around $2.70. You are probably wondering if this tactic is an ethical one. The answer is yes! Of course this is ethical. I am always upfront in letting my customers know what they will pay for shipping and handling. As a matter of fact I list my shipping and handling charges right on my auction page. So, my customers are fully aware of what they pay for a DVD that they will purchase from me. If I have in my inventory a DVD title that turns out to be a bad seller, I can sell it for what I paid and then make my profit from it in shipping. I wish you the best of luck with your business and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
