Who Else Wants to Build a Big List? If you are reading this, you must already know the importance of list building. So how do you do it? There are two approaches. One: Spend money and advertise your way to a bigger list. Two: Find low-cost methods that really work and spend time (a lot of time) building your list. Which is better? If you have the money, spend it. Build big advertising campaigns and get thousands of clicks, sell some along the way, and learn what works and what doesn’t. If you do not have the money, spend the time. Rule number 1: any money you make, put it into advertising. Rules numbers 2-9: Refer to Rule number 1. If you have the money (In order of importance): 1) Do pay-per-click marketing. Drive keyword targeted traffic to your squeeze page and convert traffic into a big list. Advantage: Can be very fast. Disadvantage: Can be very expensive. 2) Buy ezine advertising. Buy several ads. Test everything you do. Track every ad, in every ezine. Be able to know how many subscribers you get from each ad. Divide that into cost of ad to get cost of subscriber. Cost of subscriber must stay below revenue from average subscriber. Advantage: High quality subscribers. Disadvantage: Can get out of control if you do not track everything. If you have the time (and no money) (again, in order of importance): 1) Write articles and submit them online. Put a link to your squeeze page at the bottom of every article. Advantage: High quality subscribers. Disadvantage: Takes time, submission process is boring. 2) Spend time in forums. Answer lots of posts with good, solid information. Include your squeeze page link in signature (never in post). Advantage: Over time, you position yourself as expert. Clicks are strong. Disadvantage: Time consuming. Takes time for traffic to grow.
