The History of the USA Civil War by W.E.B. DuBois

DuBois, the author of the famous book “The Black Reconstruction”, having described the reason and consequences of Civil War in the United States of America has done a great work. Civil War began in 1854 in Kansas and lasted till the year 1876. It continued 20 awful years and ended in the lection of the president. The slavery was over, but not for long, later it was resumed. The United States were stuck in racism. It was the beginning of a new period of slavery. And nobody knew how long would it last and when the changes would come bringing calm and peace with.

The book is characterized by describing colorful events and giving the complete picture of the situation after the Civil War. The author strongly supports the major idea of his work –the class of proletariats became a slave of the class of bourgeoisies, the laborers didn’t feel the relief after measures taken during the reconstruction. The life of black people hasn’t become easier. It is important to find out if DuBois sufficiently described the events which happened after the Civil War. Maybe his vision of the situation was biased due to the Marxism approach and everything that happened in those years wasn’t so terrible?!

According to the publication concerning the events which took place after the Civil War (The reconstruction of the south), the government of the United States of America took many positive measures. Constitutional amendments are considered to be the most important measures taken on the way to democracy. These Amendments (the 13th in the year 1865) abolished the slavery and made a positive effect on the industrial development in the United States.
