Many of us have enjoyed a diet including fish for a long time, but it wasn't known until recently just how good fish is for us. Since that discovery fish sales have increased as more and more people decide to reap the benefits. There are a myriad of ways to prepare fish and it's relatively inexpensive to buy. Fish is lower in calories than the same portion size of beef, and it's very high in protein. Those practicing healthy eating are working toward reducing their calories and maintaining nutritional values. Fish is considered a perfect food with its high protein, and low calorie ratio. Few foods can make that claim. Remember not to slather tartar sauce or other high calorie and fat condiments onto your fish. Instead, use herbs and healthy marinades. Fish is also rich in other nutritional requirements such as potassium, B-complex vitamins, selenium, iron, and many other trace minerals required by the body. Some varieties of fatty fish are rich in vitamin A and D. Since fish is low on sodium, it is advised as a healthy diet. Many doctors and nutritionist advise people to include a lot of fish in their diet owing to their nutritional value. To err on the safe side, do not consume the breaded, over- processed fish sticks that you see in the markets. With all these benefits, you may be wondering if fish is high in cholesterol, as many other types of meat are. Most fish are relatively low in cholesterol and saturated fats, which makes it much healthier than beef. Some studies have recently shown that certain types of fish can actually help to lower cholesterol. Omega-3 fatty acids are known as the good fats, which are a necessary component in achieving optimum health. Some people take supplements such as flax seed oil. A much easier and more pleasant way to ingest these fatty acids is by eating salmon and trout, which are particularly high in omega-3. It's easy to just add a few more fish meals to your weekly diet. Omega-3 has been seen to help the body recuperate from various illnesses and to maintain health. Omega-3 helps in avoiding and curing you from high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, hardening of the arteries, arthritis, and even hair loss. Many researches on Omega-3 have established their beneficial features which should propel you into including fish in your daily diet for healthy living. Fish is inexpensive and is a great source of nutrition, at an affordable cost compared to the high cost you will pay for the supplements. Some fish like the salmon and halibut are a bit costly but most fish varieties come at an affordable cost. Fish can be prepared very deliciously which will be enjoyed by everyone in the family including the younger ones. Fish has become an ideal choice of people who want to eat a healthy diet. But be aware when you add butter or creamy sauces as they can drastically increase the calories in your diet. Fish is very easy to prepare and many delicious recipes can be prepared with fish for taste and health.
