Lacey, a musician and contestant on Rock of Love, has been receiving a lot of criticism about her behavior in the reality series. However, she has bravely defended herself against the viewers, as she believes that everything she said and did on camera was part of her plan to add a little spice into the show. The animal rights advocate from Dallas continued by saying that it was merely a television show and not real life. "When I went on the show, I purposely strived to be the controversial one in the house… In real life, no…I don't go around pushing people into pools, or getting in people's faces, or poking people on the forehead with my finger," she posted in her MySpace blog. "If I just sat around, and was nice, and talked about nice things, etc, YOU GUYS WOULD NOT BE WATCHING THIS SHOW… People want to watch drama, which I, and some of the other girls, created." Lacey also straightforwardly addressed accusations that she is using Rock of Love to promote herself and her music career. "If I was just there "for my career", then why didn't I - even once - say the name of my band to the cameras on the show? Why didn't I bring any CDs with me? I didn't even give Bret [Michaels] a CD of my band," she said intensely. "And the reason I talk about music so much is because I LOVE music, and I am passionate about my band!!!" Like Michaels, the lead singer of the rock band, Poison, Lacey is also a musician, thus she automatically had a significant common ground with him, as she was trying to build a relationship with the rock star. Many consider her actions on Rock of Love as a debasement of womanhood, however, Lacey continued to say that her actions were all for the entertainment of the audience. In real life, she actually maintained a 4.0 GPA in college. "Any situation where the woman is representing herself in a serious or business-like setting, a woman should behave in a classy, strong, sophisticated manner. However, I also feel that as a woman, I have the right to ‘let loose' and ‘party' - in the appropriate setting – i.e. in a rock 'n roll house with a ‘rock star' like Bret - without being labeled ‘a slut," Lacey explained. "Being a woman does not entail acting like a librarian 24 hours a day. Hence, the meaning behind 'women's lib.'"
