Procedure for Stripping Water Base Finish and Seals

Recommended Supplies and Cleaning Equipment:

All Purpose, Low Foaming, Detergent/Cleaner
No Rinse Stripper
Automatic Scrubber
Floor Machine (175 RPM)
Wet/Dry Vacuum
Wet Floor Signs
Mop Bucket and Wringer
Mop Handle
Wet Mop Heads (Medium to Large)
Black Stripping Pads/Nylon Grit Stripping Brushes
Treated Dust Mop
Dust mop Handle and Frame (36” to 72”)
Dust Pan and Counter Brush
Scraper/Putty Knife
Walk-Off Mat
Measuring Cup, etc.
Rubber Gloves

Recommended Method:

As in all cleaning procedures, the first step is to gather the recommended cleaning equipment together and bring to the area to be cleaned.

Automatic Scrubber:
Prepare area – set up “caution” signs, mats, remove gum, etc.

Dust mop floor area using a clean treated dust mop.

Prepare automatic scrubber and add stripping solution. Install black pad or nylon grit stripping brush on scrubber. Check pad pressure.

Scrub the floor and pick up dirty solution using light pressure and a single pass. Mop up turn areas, puddles and tracks using all-purpose detergent/cleaner solution. Allow to dry.

Recoat with seal or finish.

Be sure to inspect your work and correct any steps you might have missed.

As in all cleaning procedures, allow time to clean up and return the cleaning equipment to the storage area. Don’t forget to clean spray buff pads immediately. Finally, when you are finished, wash hands and dry thoroughly.

Floor Machine and Pad:
Prepare area – set up “caution” signs, mats, remove gum, etc.

Dust mop floor area using a clean treated dust mop.

Add stripper to mop bucket. Scrub floor area lengthwise along baseboards and side to side over balance of the area. Add stripper as needed Use wet vacuum to pick up dirty solution. Do not allow to dry. Mop up puddles, tracks, etc. Allow to dry.

Recoat with seal or finish.

Be sure to inspect your work and correct any steps you might have missed.
