Prison Break: Off-screen Offenses

The Fox network’s gritty crime drama Prison Break features a cast of hard-boiled, world-weary felons trapped behind bars for various reasons. Among these was David “Tweener” Apoloskis, a pickpocket and thief who was doing time for pilfering a priceless collection of baseball cards. But on the other hand, Lane Garrison, the actor who plays Tweener, is headed to the slammer for much more serious charges. Among these are providing alcohol to a minor, driving while under the influence, and worst of all, vehicular manslaughter. He could possibly serve up to more than five years in jail, depending on future meetings with the judge.

In 2006, the actor lost control of the SUV he was driving, with one of his teenage passengers winding up dead while the others were likewise injured. When he was taken into custody and tested afterwards, he was found to be under the effects of cocaine, along with the level of alcohol in his blood reaching two times the regular legal limit. His lawyer Harland Braun stated that he has been sent to the California Institute for Men in order to undergo a 90-day psychiatric evaluation, and on Halloween, October 31, he will face the court and Judge Elden S. Fox once more.

Before he was sent to the all-male CIM, he cooled his heels in the L.A. Men’s Central Jail. However, his new abode is known for being even tougher on its inmates, and has been nicknamed “Chino” due to its location in Chino, California. It has even become infamous in pop culture, being referenced in films such as The Big Lebowski and American History X. Chino is even mentioned in songs by rap star Snoop Dogg. The place is also known for its dangerous prison riots, caused by aggressive inmates. Unless Garrison is considered eligible for probation, he may be looking at a very long half-decade in a very difficult jail.
