Developed by students, for students, GIGMAX is a free, full-bodied online file storage service that gets your files out from under your thumb (drive) and keeps them at your fingertips. Huntingdon Valley, PA June 21, 2007 -- Thumb drives, flash drives - easy to use and just as easy to lose. On his way to Lehigh University, Matt Kenig, a Computer Science and Business major, needed a safe, secure way to keep connected with his personal files. In August of 2005, Matt began development of GIGMAX, an online file storage service, but it wasn't until meeting up with David Gerlach, another Lehigh Freshman majoring in Bio-Electrical Engineering, that the idea really began to take shape. Two weeks ago, on June 4, the two released the new Gigmax. Gerlach says, "After months of redeveloping GIGMAX from the ground up, I am excited to able to finally be able to show people all the hard work that Matt and I put in to this. We have tons of new features planned that we will be releasing throughout the summer." Even so, the current file storage capabilities of GIGMAX are full-bodied. The GIGMAX slogan is "Our Space, Your Storage" and GIGMAX is a free, online file storage service aimed to replace the typical flash/thumb/USB drives that people now use to store files. Each GIGMAX comes with 1GB (Gig) of storage space. GIGMAX allows users to store text documents, images, videos, and essentially every type and/or format of file in their own GIGMAX space. Users may choose to keep their files private or make them public to share with friends. Just one click of a button lets users copy a public file into their own GIGMAX and access that file privately as well. GIGMAX lets users access their files from anywhere they have an Internet connection. Other features include GIGMARKS, a virtual bookmark list, and GIGPAD, a place to quickly jot down notes and save them for future reference. A more recent release is the unique Windows Desktop application. This allows users to right-click files on their computer and upload them directly to their Gigmax in a matter of seconds. Also, users can simply press Control + G on any website, and it will automatically save the website in their Gigmarks section. Furthermore, Kenig claims, "The top-leading storage company, Box dot net, recently did away with their life-time free service and now currently work strictly on a prescription basis. The typical high school and college students, like Dave and I, don't want to pay for anything they don't have to, and that's why we will make sure that Gigmax is always free to use." Kenig and Gerlach designed GIGMAX to allow its users to store all their files in one place with an interface that makes it as simple as possible to sort files and keep them organized. About GIGMAX: Finding that they lived just one hundred feet apart, Matthew Kenig and David Gerlach, owners of GIGMAX, developed more than just a friendship. GIGMAX LLC quickly transformed into the next college-born technology company. The two Lehigh University students developed and continue to manage and maintain GIGMAX today, ensuring their users the most advanced and up-to-date technology in online file storage. Their goal is to provide their users with free, thumbs-free, full access to personal files.
