Candle Candle making can become a lucrative business if you don't watch out. It generally starts out as a home hobby that becomes a passion that becomes a small business. And, as you know, small businesses grow into big businesses. The best thing about candle making is that it really doesn't take any special expensive equipment to start. You can start with small simple single wax candles in simple containers and then once you think you really get the hang of it you can experiment with different types of waxes, colors and fragrances. Candle making is a great way to express yourself artistically. You can make candles for use in your own home, or candles as gifts for friends and neighbors. Every woman loves to receive a special candle. You could make your mother a special candle for Mother's Day or for her birthday using the colors of her birthstone, or her favorite color. Of course you'd make it her favorite scent. People have been fashioning candles of one sort or another for thousands of years and candle making was a thing of necessity. If you wanted to have light to see, you needed a candle. Each family made it's own supply of candles. Today's candles are used strictly to enhance a room, to add romance or to add ambiance for a special dinner or an evening or a celebration. Candles come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Today one of the most popular candles are container candles, candles in clear glass jars with lids. These container candles are safer to burn than tapered or pillar candles as the flames are contained inside the jar. These candles are especially nice because you can place them on an electric candle warmer instead of lighting the wick. The electric candle warmer heats and liquefies the wax releasing the fragrance into the air. One of the best inventions since the candle is the electric candle warmer. When a candle in a glass jar is placed on top of the electric candle warmer the wax slowly melts allowing the fragrance to enter the air, without the use of fire. It's a much safer way to enjoy your candles. You can plug in an electric candle warmer and leave it on overnight, or all day if you wish. Just remember that the wax will become liquefied so you still need to use precautions. It doesn't matter which style of candle is your favorite you'll be able to find a lovely candle holder for it. If you like pillar candles, or tea light candles you can find lovely candle holders of wrought iron, glass, plastic, wood, or metal. You can find candle wall sconces in many different styles to enhance your home. These candle wall sconces are a lovely and decorative and a safe way to be able to enjoy candles in your home. If you're ecologically minded or if you or any members of your family have any breathing or health concerns you may want to look into purchasing all natural soy wax candles over paraffin wax candles. With the push towards being green so popular today many home hobby candle makers and large candle manufacturers are using all natural soy wax to make candles. All natural soy wax burns pure, releasing no toxins in the air. Soy wax also burns cooler than paraffin wax. Soy wax candles do not soot as paraffin candles do. There is also a big difference between quality of fragrances used. More expensive candle makers will use pure fragrances. These pure fragrances are expensive but the scent is unmistakable and clear. Some candle makers use inferior fragrances thereby requiring more. These scents can become muddled and unrecognizable. You may want to stay away from candles that claim to have the strongest scent. They can be overpowering. Most people who purchase fragranced pillar candles are looking for quality scented candles that have subtle fragrances.
