Marketing in the real world and on the web are two completely different things. Following is advice you can use to tweak your internet marketing campaigns. 1. Offering an Affiliate Program Many sites consider the option of offering an affiliate program to get others to promote their sites. While this is pretty standard, make sure you are comfortable with others using your brand in just about any way you can imagine. 2. Using Keywords in SEO - Once you have researched your keywords for SEO, consideration needst to be given regarding how to lay them out in your site. Personally, I try to use no more than six per page and often go with just one phrase. 3. Publishing Articles in Directories To promote your site, it often makes sense to publish articles to gain links and publicity. There are thousands of article directories, but the biggest is Ezine Articles. 4. First Internet Marketing Step - When it comes to internet marketing, the first step you should take is clear. Research! Figure out what keywords your prospects are using and incorporate them in your site. 5. PPC vs SEO - The debate between PPC and SEO is a non-starter. If you don't have rankings, market with PPC. If you do, turn off all PPC ads for keywords under which you rank in the top 10. 6. Timing SEO - Un undiscussed factor in obtaining rankings through SEO is timing. New sites don't get ranked by Yahoo and Google. Your first step when launching a site is to get it published and submitted as fast as humanly possible. 7. Monitoring Rankings - Once you start to get rankings in Google, Yahoo and MSN, there is a tendency to check them every day. Don't. It is a huge waste of time. Check them no more than once or twice a week. 8. Internet Marketing Goals - Before you build a site, you need to know what your goals are. The choices are focusing on a niche or broad area. Niche tends to be better unless you have a lot of time and money. 9. Optimal Conversion Rates Traffic to your site is nice, but you need to convert it into sales. Your conversion rate is the number of sales you have per visitor. Anything over 1 in 400 is a bad sign. 10. Converting at Christmas During the holidays, people are compelled to buy. To evaluate your site, look at your conversion rate compared to other months. You should see your conversion rate improve by 100 percent during the season. Advice is one of those dime a dozen things. Everyone has it to give and they often wont shut up about it. I am probably no different, but I can say the above has helped me make money on the net.
