Gangster movies

Gangster Movies are developed around the threatening events of criminals or gangster. This may include underworld figures, bank robbers, or cruel hooligans who break the law. It is shown in these movies that the gangster steals and violently murder throughout their life. These movies are often grouped as post-war movie or detective-mystery movies just because of fundamental similarities between these cinematic forms.
The stories in this sort of movies often emphasize the life of a crime figure or a crime's victim. These movies adore the rise and fall of a particular criminal or gangster, bunch of criminals, bank robber, killer or lawbreakers. Movie gangsters are usually selfish, corrupt, meglo-maniacal, street-smart, and self-destructive. The significant plot characteristic of gangster movies is often the rivalry with other criminals or gangsters. How the criminal will be held by police, secretive eyes, extraordinary agents or lawful authorities, or ambiguities such as who stole the valued object are some questions which are included in the crime plots these movies.
The fundamental theme of the gangster movies is to show how a person becomes a gangster and rises to power with a tough cruel facade while showing a determined desire for success and recognition. It is not always true that in a gangster movie the gangster is shown cruel or immoral but the other side of the criminal may be shown as a gentlemen the movies. These movies are basically morality tales. It is shown that how a person from a poor family often fall prey to crime in the desire of status, material possessions, and status and it happens just because all other "normal" ways to the top are not available to them. Along with all this it is also shown that how the gangster is doomed to failure and inevitable death. Sometimes the criminals are portrayed as the victims of circumstances because the story is told from there point of view.
The Gangster movies date back to the early days of movie during the silent era. One of the first to mark the start of the gangster genre was D. W. Griffith's The Musketeers of Pig Alley (1912) about organized crime. Many movies showcased violent lawlessness. But the gangster movies became popular and an entertaining when the sound era came, means that, the time when dialogues came in to movies. In 1930’s the gangster movies truly became the good way to attract viewers to the theatres, who were interested in the lawlessness and violence on-screen.
Few examples of these type of movies are: The Great Train Robbery, The Lights of New York, The Gambler, The 1000 Eyes, Little Caesar, The Public Enemy , Scarface: The Shame of a Nation .
