It has been calculated that nowadays there are more than 28 000 diets. Maybe dieting is so extremely effective since it’s so popular? Alas, it isn’t so.
It should be clear that we’re speaking about the so called "fashion diets". Such diets promise ideal shape and full recovery in one-two weeks, month at maximum. There’s a host of such diets: scoring, low-caloric, albuminous, vegetal, cheese, English, Japanese, French, Hollywood, ballet etc.
The point of practically all “fashion diets” – they don’t help more often than not and first of all since they are all based on strict products restrictions. Rarely strong-willed people manage to "reshape" themselves with the help of dieting.
Some people think that strict diets are most effective. It’s nothing but myth: the diets excluding carbohydrates take out water. Those keeping such a diet grow thin very quickly and are happy thinking that they’ve got rid of fat. However, fat goes out very slowly but builds up very quickly especially after dieting, with its “victim” gaining larger weight than before. The point is if you get less than 1000 calories daily your organism switches to rigid eating. Metabolism slows down by 10-30%, i.e., calories burn slower. After a diet you get back to your previous habits but the organism doesn’t manage to quickly switch itself back to the new regime and continues to burn calories very slowly thus resulting in consequent sharp weight gain.
It turns out that almost 98% of people after dieting not only gain their previous weight but add some extra kilos. Almost 90% gain former kilos for five years on average. Research has shown that too resolute efforts to loose weight practiced by young (and not-so-young) girls often increase the chances that they will grow stout with time.
It should be also taken into account that almost all weight loss aids are meant for healthy people. Some popular fat burners contain substances that may cause arrhythmia or tachycardia in cardiovascular patients.
Those, who repeatedly tried dieting, have noticed that every other time it becomes more and more difficult to loose weight. Organism memorizes dieting as accident and violently resists every new diet.
So, what should do those eager to loose weight? – Lead healthy life-style, keep eutrophy and move. Forget the word “diet”. Eat more fruit, vegetables and cereals and change your ration in such a way that you could keep it for your whole life.
